Balanced, sustainable, varied and attractively priced: these are the cornerstones of our dining concept.
Our cosy restaurants are a meeting point to get to know other travellers and offer you fine foods every day. Swiss and international dishes are awaiting you with fresh and regional ingredients.
Seasonal and sustainable
When preparing meals, attention is paid to regional and Swiss as well as «fair trade» products, with seasonal availability always being taken into account for vegetables and fruits – exotic fruits will be avoided as far as possible. The amount of vegetables is increased in various dishes to keep the carbon footprint as small as possible.
Vegetarian, vegan or meat after all?
Our menus are always based on a vegetarian dish. Every day the menu offers a vegetarian dish, which is also offered in a vegan version. In addition, there is usually a menu with Swiss meat. All our dishes are always offered as gluten- or lactose-free options. Our menus consume on average 40% less CO2 than a standard menu.
Pimp your meal
At the topping stations, you can garnish the individual courses with nuts, raisins, chillies, tortilla chips, various sauces, lime wedges, herbs and other ingredients. The toppings vary depending on the dish.
Good value and high quality
With a price of CHF 19.50 for a 3-course meal and children’s prices of CHF 8.50 (2-5 years) and CHF 14.50 (6-12 years), our lunches and dinners feature extremely attractive prices. Our menus include a salad and/or soup, the freshly prepared main course as well as a dessert. Free second helpings of vegetables and side dishes included.
At the popular water stations you can fill up with local tap water for free. This service is unique for an accommodation chain in Switzerland.
Thirsty or in the mood for something sweet? The self-service kiosk offers you everything you need for your daily (or nightly) needs around the clock. Currently available at Brienz, Leissigen, Luzern, Locarno, Rapperswil-Jona, Schaan-Vaduz, Valbella, Zermatt and Zug Youth Hostels. The offering at other locations is currently being planned.
Taken care of all around
A healthy breakfast puts you in a good mood and gives you power! In the morning, you can also opt for a complete gluten- or lactose-free breakfast. For example, oat milk and soy milk as well as gluten-free bread and muesli are available at our buffets. Breakfast is always included in the price of accommodation.
At the Zurich, Basel, Bern, Burgdorf, Interlaken, Laax, Saas-Fee and Lausanne Youth Hostels, we offer you reasonably priced and balanced 3-course menus on weekdays. If you order the day before, you can also pick up your packed lunch in the morning at any youth hostel.
For several years now, we have been purchasing products with the Fairtrade mark from Max Havelaar. Last year, Max Havelaar products accounted for 7% of products. Nearly 6.5 tonnes of coffee, more than 600 hectolitres of fruit juice, 515 kg of sugar and 1.7 tonnes of basmati rice were consumed.
