Three youth hostels receive the Ibex Platinum award
The wellnessHostel3000 in Laax and the youth hostels in Grindelwald and Scuol are delighted to have received the highest certification level of the ibex fairstay label.
Two Swiss youth hostels were more than happy to hear in October that they had been awarded the ibex fairstay sustainability label for the first time and a further hostel was informed of its recertification at Platinum level. The wellnessHostel3000 in Laax, which opened in December 2020, was awarded Platinum certification, the highest level, at its first attempt. To quote the words of the report, “The structure impressed us with its consistent use of eco-friendly materials and techniques.”
The Grindelwald Youth Hostel was promoted from Gold to Platinum level. The ibex experts commended the variety of efforts made by this hostel in the Bernese Oberland. These included the conscious incorporation of sustainability in the running of the hostel, the painstaking interaction with resources as well as the fair and supportive working conditions for staff.
Continuous quality assurance and improvements in all five levels of sustainability were also rewarded at the Scuol Youth Hostel, which retained its Platinum ibex fairstay certification.
