A fire broke out on 15 February at Burgdorf Castle and part of the kitchen was destroyed. Due to the high level of smoke, the restaurant and reception are currently unavailable. No one was injured during the fire. Fortunately, the historical structure of the 825-year-old castle has not suffered any damage. The alarm system and the deployment of the fire brigade functioned efficiently and the fire was quickly brought under control. The cause of the fire is the subject of police investigations.

As the safety of its guests is of paramount importance to the Foundation and its operators, Burgdorf Castle will not be able to open as planned on 17 February after the company holidays. The priority is to check and reinstate all security systems and building services. According to current estimates, this will take at least one week. This means that the doors to Burgdorf Castle will not open again until 24 February at the earliest. Further information will follow.
