Swiss Youth Hostels celebrate their 100th anniversary

Together with the Federal Council, new memberships and a record number of overnight stays, the next century was heralded at the Bächlihof Jona.

On 28 April 2024, the Swiss Youth Hostels (SYH) celebrated their 100th anniversary with around 500 guests on the banks of Lake Zurich. A highlight of the festivities and a great honour for the non-profit organisation was the inspiring speech given by Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin. Following a record number of overnight stays in 2023, the Swiss Youth Hostels are looking to the 2024 financial year with optimism and are pleased to share some exciting news ahead of the anniversary year. They are revamping their membership concept, granting babies born in April a lifelong membership and giving the go-ahead for an ongoing digitalisation initiative.
