Lugano Youth Hostel receives gold certification from ibex fairstay

Thanks to comprehensive improvements in the areas of ecology and social issues, Lugano Youth Hostel has now been awarded gold certification from the ibex fairstay sustainability label.

On 11 April 2022 Lugano Youth Hostel was pleased to receive the next level of certification from the independent sustainability label ibex fairstay. The hostel in Ticino has managed to move from silver to gold.

One special commitment in the area of social issues is the cooperation with the cantonal Scuola Speciale, which has been established for two years and focuses on the development of children and young people with special educational needs. The youth hostel offers young adults the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in various areas of the business one day a week during their school years. In September 2021, a school leaver joined the team at Lugano Youth Hostel with a permanent position. In addition, the hostel only offers organic beverages, which has a positive effect on the eco-balance and also earned additional points for higher certification.
