    Start of renovation work at Rapperswil Jona Youth Hostel

    Despite the current challenges in tourism, the Rapperswil-Jona Youth Hostel is undergoing renovation in the coming months. This is intended to increase the number of overnight stays in future and maintain the range of affordable and family-friendly accommodation options in the long term. The focus of the renovation work is on updating the public areas and providing barrier-free access to the rooms.

    More families, but fewer groups in the youth hostels

    The Swiss Youth Hostels can look back at a busy summer. While this non-profit organisation recorded a large decline in overnight stays in its city-based hostels and the guest segment of Groups and Schools, Swiss families in particular have rediscovered their own country as a travel destination. That seems to promise good business this autumn – if the weather’s right.

    Topping out ceremony Youth Hostel Schaan-Vaduz

    The first construction machines were started up at Under Rüttigass 6 in Schaan in November 2019, and the Schaan-Vaduz Youth Hostel is now celebrating its topping out. With the structure complete, application of the facade cladding and fitting of the building service installations are set to begin soon. The management of the new youth hostel has also been announced: Isabelle and Adrian Koch will move from Romanshorn Youth Hostel to Liechtenstein to run the hostel together with effect from 1 April 2021.

    Schloss Burgdorf welcomes first guests as “Schloss für alle”(castle for all)

    Schloss Burgdorf opens its doors to the public on 13 June 2020. The city in the Emmen Valley now features a youth hostel with 115 beds, a new restaurant, an exciting museum for all ages and numerous options for private and business events. 800-year-old Zähringen castle is also home to a civil wedding venue.

    New MICE offer for Burgdorf

    With the official opening of “Schloss für alle” (castle for all) on 13 June 2020, Burgdorf is now home to a new museum, youth hostel and restaurant, as well as numerous unique spaces for company events and private parties.
