Switzerland by bike: spring onto your saddle!
When nature comes to life and the sun smiles down, it gives many of us a spring in our step.
The start of spring means longer and warmer days. Flora and fauna start to awaken and give us fresh motivation to head out into the great outdoors for some springtime adventures! By the way, there’s an easy way to upgrade spring adventures in the great outdoors. Hop onto your saddle, enjoy the fresh spring breeze and discover the beauty of Switzerland – entirely at your own pace. Switzerland’s cycling routes are just as diverse as the landscape itself, and offer everything from exhilarating rides to relaxing meanders.
It doesn’t matter if you like to take things slow, are a super fit nature fan or an adventurous family – over 12,000 kilometres of bike routes in Switzerland mean that there is something for everyone! For example, the lake route takes you from Lake Geneva all the way to Lake Constance, passing by no less than nine other lakes. Or would you rather head straight to the mountains? Then test your fitness on the Alpine Panorama Route between St. Margrethen and Aigle, where’ll you’ll come across one stunning view after the next. Of course, there are more easy-going routes available, such as the Rhône or the Rhine routes.
National, regional and local routes are all clearly signposted and easy to split up or combine. You can also choose from a huge range of bike-friendly accommodation, and even rent a set of wheels!
Our tip: test out the Rhine route and stay overnight in one of our youth hostels along your favourite stage.
