Sunny Mediterranean holidays in Ticino

Locarno Youth Hostel is affectionately known as the “Palagiovani” by the locals, which translates as the “Youth Palace”. This is hardly surprising, as the pretty villa at the entrance to Locarno’s old town is a real showpiece.

In Locarno, the sun actually shines for almost 2,300 hours a year! This promises balmy evenings on the famous Piazza Grande, where summer events such as the Moon&Stars Festival and the film festival take place, as well as relaxing Mediterranean moments by the lake or exploring the vineyards. Our top tip: Hop on your bike in Locarno for an ice cream by the lake. Then maybe an espresso doppio? Go on, spoil yourself!
