Swiss Youth Hostels | Seminars and event hostels

49 rooms of the Basel Youth Hostel have barrier-free access.

The main entrance can only be accessed via a ramp with a 6% gradient. Access to the restaurant is via a ramp with a 21% incline; a stair lift is available in addition. The restaurant is also easily accessible via an outside ramp.

All rooms are wheelchair-friendly and can be accessed with ease from the upper storeys using the elevator.

• The width of the corridor in front of the elevator is 250 cm.
• The width of the elevator door is 80 cm.
• Elevator width: 100 cm
• Elevator depth: 220 cm

The width of the doors to the rooms is 80 cm.

Barrier-free bathroom

All rooms have a washbasin. Disability-friendly showers/WCs are available on every storey. One double room has a fully disabled-friendly bathroom.

The bathroom dimensions are:

• Width of bathroom door: 83 cm
• WC seat height: 46 cm
• The washbasin is wheelchair accessible: 78 cm
• Shower seat
• Shower handle

By train / by foot

To get to the youth hostel from «Basel Bahnhof SBB» railway station, take tram no. 2 to the «Bankverein» stop and from there, walk for about 10 minutes through the Alban district towards the «Wettsteinbrücke» bridge and down Mühlenberg street towards the Rhine River, then through the park, past the St. Alban church. 

To get to the youth hostel, take tram no. 2 from the «Basel Badischer Bahnhof» railway station to the «Bankverein» stop. From there, walk for about 10 minutes through the Alban district back towards the «Wettsteinbrücke» bridge and down Mühlenberg street towards the Rhine River, then through the park, past the St. Alban church.

Swiss Trac is recommended, as the route from the Youth Hostel to the city is steep.

By car

The Youth Hostel does not have any parking spaces. Only loading and unloading possible. A limited number of parking spaces are available in the quarter.
